格利泽402是一颗位于狮子座距离太阳系22.7光年的恒星。距离格利泽402最近的恒星是格利泽393格利泽408,分别距离3.43光年和6.26光年。[12]

格利泽402是一颗天龙座BY型变星。其视星等在11.64和11.70之间变化。亮度变化是由于星斑和色球层活动以及恒星自转造成的。它被赋予了变星编号EE Leonis[3]

与太阳系附近的绝大多数恒星一样,格利泽402是一颗暗淡的红矮星。它的视星等为+11.66,无法用肉眼看到;只有用望远镜才能看到。它的光度仅为太阳的 0.091%。[12]它的光谱类型是M4V,并且它的有效温度约为3100K。它的物理特性与罗斯128克鲁格60 B非常相似,半径约为太阳的30%。[10]它的自转速度可达2.3 km/s[9],而它的金属量略低于太阳。[9]
